Crafty Cardmakers and More #154

Welcome to our very last challenge for the year.  I don't know about you but this year has certainly flown by!  Our theme for this challenge is "Snow".  Traditionally when you think about Christmas, images of snow come to mind but not so for us down under, we are currently baking our way through the festive season.  Nevertheless I love a good snowy Christmas scene.  I decided to make a shaker card for my creation. With my shaker goodies representing the snow.

I recently purchased a We R Memory Keepers Photo Sleeve Fuse tool.  I initially purchased it for my project life pages but boy oh boy does this make creating a shaker card super easy!  This was so much less painful than I remember when making shaker cards before.

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White and Pool Party
Tools: Big Shot with circle dies, foam tape, plastic photo pocket
Embellishments: Heidi Swapp Christmas Stickers, sequins and glass beads, bauble garland (from my stash)
Challenges: Just Add Ink #292
Creative Card Crew #102

If you have a fuse tool and wanted to try a shaker card there are heaps of youtube videos out there.  I personally recommend this one by K Werner Design she is totally talented and I love her work.

Please make sure you pop over and check out all the wonderful creations here.

Well that is all from me and I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and safe and happy new year.  Thank you for stopping in to visit me and leaving your very kind comments throughout the year and I look forward to creating with you all next year!

Crafty Cardmakers and More #153

Well it is nearly here that crazy time of year - Christmas!  Pamellia is hosting this fortnight and her theme is "Twas the Night Before Christmas". Taking inspiration from the poem.

I have taken inspiration from the reindeer for my creation today.

Please take your inspiration from the poem.  Here it is:

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Stamps: Stampin' Up! Contempo Christmas, Bugaboo Stamps "Reindeer Silhouette"
Ink: Stampin' Up! Cherry Cobbler

Crafty Cardmakers and More #152

Hi everyone!  This fortnight Josephine has challenged us to make a Winter Birthday Card.  As we are headed straight into Summer here down under it made a cooling change to play with Winter colours and themes.  I must admit living in Australia I don't have a lot of Winter themed stamps and I find a lot of the ones I do have are very Christmas orientated - which makes me laugh as rather than snow, warm fires and snowflakes we have BBQs, sunshine and backyard cricket.  I did however find this little snowman stamp that I thought I could use as a birthday wish instead.

Here is what I have used:

Stamps/Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake, Crate Paper Winter Fun
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Window Dressing, Penny Black Make A Wish
Ink: Memento Black and Copics to colour
Tools: Martha Stewart Snowflake Punches, Circle Die
Accessories: Stampin' Up! Ribbon
Challenges: Mojo Monday #423 Sketch Challenge

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to check out all the gorgeous creations here.

Happy Crafting

Crafty Cardmakers and More #151

Hi there!  This fortnight Julie is hosting and would like to see your thank you creations.  I am finding my style is really changing to clean and simple these days as I find myself picking bold bright colours and one or two embellishments without any fluff.  Don't get me wrong I love fluff and my craft room is full of it but I just find myself gravitating towards a simpler style (may have something to do with a busy lifestyle lol).  Anyway here is my creation.

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Kaisercraft Shine Bright
Tools: Sizzix (SU) Hello You Thinlits, SU Embossing Folder (not sure of its name but it is an old one I have had for years)
Embellishments: Ampersand Chipboard shape from stash

I have been looking at carpet samples, couches and cushions in charcoals, black, grays and yellow so I think this is why I picked up this paper pad!  Yellow is my go to colour this week.

Thanks for popping by make sure you check out all the wonderful creations here.

Crafty Cardmakers and More #149

Hi everyone!  Kim is hosting this fortnight and the theme is circular cards.  I have to admit this is a bit outside of my normal comfort zone!  I made this birthday card for a cute little friend and prettied up this cute little dragon.  I didn't have any dies big enough so had to hand cut my circles (which is why they may look a teeny bit wonky in spots).  I used a smaller circle die to cut my image.

Here is what I have used:

Stamps: Dragon's Little Friend by Meljens Designs (www.meljensdesigns.com)
Ink: Memento Ink Black
Card/Paper: Stampin' Up! Pink Pirouette Cardstock and DSP, X-press It Blending Card
Embellishments: Stampin' Up! Old Olive Ribbon, Rhinestones
Copics: YG03, YG63, YG 67
RV10, RV21, RV13
Wink of Stella Silver
Tools: Large Circle Die

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to go and check out all the great creations here.

Crafty Cardmakers and More Challenge 148

Hi and welcome to another Crafty Cardmakers and More challenge.  For this weeks challenge Sally would like to see sparkle on your creations.  Here is my card.

You know that feeling when it is suddenly September and all the Christmas stuff starts appearing in the shops and you realise you haven't made one Christmas card yet?  Yep that is me right about now! I like to keep my Christmas cards quite clean and simple as usually I leave it to the last minute and I have a stack to make.  My sparkle is in that gorgeous gold cord (which quite frankly is much more gorgeous in real life and so very sparkly but didn't photograph well) and the itty bitty rhinestones.  I did have sheets of sparkly glitter paper out but nothing appealed to me when I was putting this together.

Here is what I have used:
Card/Paper: Kaisercraft "Yuletide"
Embellishments: Kaisercraft Collectibles "Yuletide", Kikki K Gold Cord, Studio Calico Cork Stars, Wooden bird (I think Prima?) and Rhinestones from my stash.

That is it super quick and easy but another Christmas card for the stack!

Have a great week and don't forget to go and check out all the other amazing creations here.

Fathers Day

Fathers day is fast approaching here in Australia so I thought I better get going on some male cards.  I really don't enjoy making them lol!  The challenge this fortnight at Crafty Cardmakers and More is - No Patterned Paper.  Ideal theme for a male card I think.

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Card: Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Always Artichoke (I think!), Whisper White
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Motorcycle
Ink: Stampin' Up! Basic Black
Embellishments: Ribbon from my stash and American Crafts Cork Stars
Tools: Cuttlebug Gears Embossing Folder

So I just embossed the layers with the gears embossing folder and layered it up.  Pretty quick and simple.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to head on over and see all the other amazing creations this fortnight.

Welcome Baby Tilda

Hi there!  A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to become an Aunt again. Baby Matilda (Tilda for short) was born very early and was so very tiny.  She is doing well now and this is the card I made for her.  Of course it was appropriate to use a Tilda stamp!

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Card: Copic X-Press It Card, Stampin' Up! Pink Pirouette, My Minds Eye "Follow Your Heart - Be Happy"
Stamps: Magnolia Baby Tilda, Stampin' Up Tiny Tags
Ink: Memento Black
Embellishments: Stampin' Up! Organza Whisper White Ribbon, Twine
Tools:  Stampin' Up! Tiny Tag Punch, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Circle Die
Copics: Skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04
Hair: E33, E35, E57
Clips/Butterflies: RV10, RV21, RV13
Challenges: Just Add Ink - Just add a sketch

I paper pieced her outfit, socks and crown with the cute spotty paper from My Minds Eye.  I think everything else is pretty self explanatory but if you need to know anything just give me a shout!

Thanks for popping by,

Anything But A Card - Crafty Cardmakers and More #144

Hi everyone I hope you are somewhere warm today as it is beyond freezing here!  A nice day to stay rugged up indoors and craft.  So our challenge this fortnight at Crafty Cardmakers and More is from Carole and is Anything But a Card.  My other passion apart from cardmaking is pocket scrapbooking (eg. Project Life etc).  I am way behind but I am slowly getting through 2014 and I am so happy that my thousands of pictures are now getting off the computer, phone, tablet etc and into albums that my kids love to look through.  I do my albums on a monthly basis with a few everyday things (like this one here) and special events throughout the month.  With five kids I don't have time for anything else and I'm still so far behind lol! Here is a layout I have just completed.

I have photographed it out of the pockets to reduce the glare but have used Design A pockets from Project Life.

Here is a close of up two of the cards.

Yes that is my crazy Cyclone Archie.

I have used mostly Simply Stories Daily Grind range on this but also some bits and pieces from my stash.  I am a huge Simple Stories fan and buy just about every range they release.  In saying that I also own several (cough, cough) Project Life kits as well.  The camera is from Corbett Creations (check them out on facebook amazing designs and she does custom).  I think the superstar wood piece is Studio Calico. I have typed the journaling on the card with my typewriter which I got for $10 love that thing!

Well that is it from me, make sure you duck on over the blog and check out all the other DT members creations and hope you can play along.

Love Is Still In The Air!

Hey, hey its Friday!  Hope you are having an awesome day wherever that may be.  I wanted to play along this month at The Flair Studio.  The theme this months is the colour red, use a flair and flowers. So to me red always says love (or Christmas but I can't bring myself to go there yet!).

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Card: Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Bo Bunny "Head Over Heels"
Embellishments: Studio Calico Chipboard People, The Flair Studio Flair, Flowers from my stash
Tools: Stampin' Up! Heart Punch

I really love how this has all come together.  I fussy cut out the panel behind the peeps and the heart banners as well.

Thanks for popping by.  Have a great weekend!

Engagement Pretties

We were lucky enough to head over to Adelaide for the weekend to help celebrate our daughter's engagement.  Of course I had to make them an extra special card.

I used an old Verve Sketch to help me get started.  I really wanted to take part in this months challenge over at Studio Fourteen40.  It is scrappy bingo time this month.  I have used the bingo line with Glitter (the gold obviously), Flair (this one from Studio Fourteen40 Confetti Collection, Ink (Frayed Burlap Distress Ink around the edges), Stripes (on the paper), and my free spot was the wooden heart (Corbett Creations).

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Card: Crate Paper "Craft Market - Process, Sparkle", Crate Paper " Kiss Kiss - Forever"

Embellishments: Crate Paper " Kiss Kiss - Layered Stickers", Studio Fourteen40 Flair "Confetti", Thickers "Reindeer"

Tools: Stampin' Up! Timeless Type Dies, Sizzix Circle Die

Ink: Distress Ink "Frayed Burlap"

I recommend playing along with this challenge as it is lots of fun.  Check out the blog here for more info.

Thanks for popping by hope you have a crafty day!

Crafty Cardmakers and More #143

Hi everyone!  Leslie is hosting our challenge this fortnight and the theme is water.  Now I must admit I have been extremely time poor this fortnight with the kids being on school holidays and we are getting up at 4am tomorrow to travel to Adelaide so this card has been extremely quick and extremely simple!  But sometimes those are the best kind right!

Here is what I have used:

Paper/Cardstock: Kaisercraft "Hello Sunshine", Stampin'Up! Whisper White Cardstock
Embellishments: Kaisercraft "Hello Sunshine" Collectibles
Tools: Circle Punch

I love using these Kaisercraft paper pads and matching Collectibles as they all come together really quickly for when you are in a big hurry!  I fussy card the little sentiment from the one of the paper sheets.

Well that's it for me I have made heaps of creations for engagement and baby shower events this weekend so I will be back sharing them next week.

Make sure to pop on over the Crafty Cardmakers and More blog and check out all the wonderful creations and please play along.

Take Care,

Bec

Crafty Cardmakers and More #142

Hi everyone! Jackie is hosting this fortnight and the challenge is to use a sentiment.  So with the sentiment as the main focus this is what I came up with.

I love this stamp which I bought in a box set from Typo.  I really just bought it because of the box lol but now the stamps have grown on me too.  I have used the Bo Bunny range Head Over Heels.  Also all those little bits of ribbon are from my endless stash.  I often asked myself why keep such little bits but then I started using them like this and answered my own question!

Here is what I have used:

Stamps: Typo Box Set. All You Need Is Love
Paper and Cardstock: Bo Bunny Head Over Heels, Stampin' Up! Whisper White
Ink: Stampin' Up! Regal Rose and Blushing Bride
Embellishments: Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Ribbon scraps

With the inking of the stamp I first covered it in Blushing Bride and then rolled the edges with Regal Rose.  Love this "Rock n Roll" effect.

So hope you have time to join us and don't forget to check out all the other great DT creations here!

I'm back to singing All you need is Love by the Beatles around the house.

Thanks for popping by and joining us this fortnight and hope you can join in the fun.

Crafty Cardmakers and More #139

Hi there and welcome to another Crafty Cardmakers and More challenge.  This week Kim is hosting and her challenge is to make a shaped card.  I must admit that I always fall into the standard square or rectangle so this was fun to make something different.

This is called a teepee card and there are heaps of tutorials about so why not have a go.  If you use a velcro dot on the one side instead of sealing it all permanently then you can fold it down to post too.

I have had this collection of papers for absolutely ever and think I won them at some point.  It is from Basic Grey and is the Olivia collection.  All the felt embellishments are from this range as well and I fussy cut the hearts from one of the sheets of paper.  The only other goodies I have used is a bit of ribbon from my stash (which is a nice velvet one) and some thickers for the letters.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to check out all the other DT girls creations here and all the wonderful entrants.

Crafty Cardmakers and More #138

Hi again everyone.  We have an awesome challenge this fortnight with Pamellia hosting and the theme is - Create Your Own Background.  So that means no designer papers - "what?!?" I hear you say!  There are a lot of great techniques out there so try your hand at some of them for something different.  Here is my creation.

I have used the shaving cream technique.  There is a great tutorial for that here.  It is actually really simple and all you need is some shaving cream (I raided the hubby's) and some re-inkers.  I wanted an Autumn colour palette being inspired by the lovely Autumn trees everywhere here in Melbourne. Once it was dry I stamped directly onto my background.  The cards smell awesome too!

Here is what I used:

Stamps: Stampin' Up! Lovely As A Tree, Stampin' Up! Happiest Birthday Wishes
Ink: Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip
Cardstock/Paper: White card base, Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip, Stampin' Up! Whisper White

I had some left overs so made a few the same to replenish my manly cards.  Here is a slightly different one.

Thanks for popping by and don't forget to go and check out all the wonderful creations for this fortnights challenge here.

Crafty Cardmakers and More #136

Hi there and welcome to another Crafty Cardmakers and More Challenge.  This week Mary is hosting and the theme is wings.  So you have probably noticed I don't do fancy.  I love it from afar and covet all the amazing artists that rock this look. I'm more of a clean and simple girl myself!  This week however I found these papers which are so old and I am on a mission to use up some stuff that has just been collecting dust.  This was actually in a scrapbook kit for a layout that I bought when I was still just starting out but alas like many things it never got put together. I pulled all the bits together and made this card instead.

I have fussy cut out all the flowers and the mirror.  The lamp post was plain old chipboard but I coloured it up with good old Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  Of course my wings are the butterflies.  What do you think have I pulled off a fancy card?

Here is what I have used:
Paper: Kaisercraft Chanteuse Collection
Ink: Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Tools: Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Fussy Cutting Scissors
Embellishments: Kaisercraft Chanteuse Collection Die Cut Elements, Flowers from my stash

Ok that is all from me this week make sure you visit all the DT girls and give them some love!

Happy Easter everybody.

Crafty Cardmakers and More Challenge #130

Well today I have some very exciting news.  I have been asked to join the Design Team for the Crafty Cardmakers and More Challenge site.  I am so very excited and hope you can play along with us.  This was for challenge #130 which is "Something Old and Something New".  Here is my creation for a special little boys first birthday.   I drew my inspiration from this card here.

So my something old was pretty much everything on the card!  Although I have had this stamp set for quite some time I have never used it before so I think that can count as new.  Also the star that I have watermarked stamped that you can just faintly see on the blue strip is one I have never used either. I coloured this little bloke in with Copics.
Here is what I have used:
Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Bashful Blue and So Saffron
Paper: Simple Stories "Fresh Air"
Stamps: Technique Tuesday "Twinkle On" and Stampin' Up! "Under the Big Top"
Tools: Lattice Punch, Tim Holtz Paper Rosette Die, Stampin' Up! Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlits
Copics: C1, C3, C5
R27, B91, B93, Y02
Thanks for popping in and I look forward to seeing all your creations for this challenge.

Happy Birthday Oscar!

Hi There!
So on Tuesday it was our son's birthday.  Oscar turned 8 - can't believe where that time has gone!  Now if you have a gamer in the house chances are you know all about Minecraft.  He is obsessed and this year is having a Minecraft party so of course I had to make a Minecraft card.  With a bit of research this is apparently a creeper.  It is a very basic design but he was very chuffed with it.

Here is what I have used:
Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Basic Black and Garden Green
Stamps: Stampin' Up! "So Happy For You"
Tools: Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Square Punch

Like I said a very basic design that was quick and easy.  I can see myself making more of these as his mates birthdays roll around.
It is going to be a very wet dreary weekend here in Melbourne (nice after the heat) so expect to see some more creations coming your way.

Thanks for dropping by

The Deconstructed Sketch #182

Well it is a scorcher here down under today.  Multiple bushfires burning across two states makes for worrying times.  I'm hoping my family and friends back in Adelaide are safe.
So it is way too hot to do anything outdoors today so here is another card.  Again with the male cards - this one for my brother.  I still have the same papers on my desk and decided to go with them again.  This is for challenge 182 over on Deconstructed Sketch.

Here is what I have used:
Paper: Adorn It "Rough and Tough"
Card: Bazzill
Stamp: Stampin' Up! "So Happy For You"
Embellishments: Studio Calico Wood Banner
Ink: Staz-On Black
Tools: Circle Punches

Still working on getting the lighting right for taking photos and really don't like this blue background but will get there eventually!

Thanks for stopping by and stay cool!

Happy New Year!

Well can you believe here we are in 2015!  I have a load of birthdays in January so lets get started.  This is for a teenage boy (which I find really difficult to make cards for) and I wanted to just keep it plain and simple.  I have played along with this weeks sketch at Mojo Monday and flipped it on its side.  This sketch called for a long and narrow card so the measurements are 3.5" x 6".

Here is what I have used:

Paper: Adorn It "Rough and Tough"
Cardstock: Left over Bazzill
Stamp: Stampin' Up! "Bring on the Cake"
Embellishment : Random wood veneer from my stash

I hope to be back tomorrow with another creation for you - I have three days straight of boy birthdays!  In the mean time if you are in Australia keep cool!

Thanks for popping by,
